Daft Punk

Daft PunkI guess one should try listening to the groove of Daft Punk, the Paris-based house music gurus that first invaded Europe in 1997. They were regarded as France's version of UK's Chemical Brothers. They had this 1st album "Homework" and it did well particularly in Europe. The song "Around the World" had a wonderful performance in the dance charts, and the other songs in the album were groovy, too. It was recommended back then by Entertainment Weekly as a "must-buy CD." But unfortunately, their success was limited to the trance & house-lovin Europeans. And nothing was heard from them ever since.

This year, they're finally back with vengeance with the much anticipated new album "Discovery" which includes the club hit "One More Time" followed up by two equally good songs "Digital Love" and "Aerodynamic." Though their new sound is somewhat a reinvention of themselves from their first album, it's still very danceable, very clubbish indeed. What's cool about Daft Punk is their music videos. Perhaps, you've checked out the video of the songs from Discovery, they were manga-style animations created and directed by Toei Animation Inc. of Japan (makers of Astroboy and Dragonball). They're really cool, one of a kind videos for musical purposes!

For those who want something new for their musical ears, try Daft Punk for a change. It's the sound of the future... now!

Added bit of info:
My e-mail add funk_ad@yahoo.com actually came from one of the title tracks from the first album.
