The Mummy Returns

The great fight between Rachel Weisz and Patricia VelasquezThe action scene in the theatrical trailer between Rachel Weisz and Patricia Velasquez was what initially grabbed my attention to watch The Mummy Returns. Being a non-admirer of Brendan Fraser's acting, and John Hannah's lame performance in Sliding Doors, I almost decided to stay home instead. Out of boredom and disgust because there was nothing else to do, I still decided to watch the movie thinking that I could relax in this one and I thought no large amount of mental exertion would be required.

The Mummy Returns is a typical movie of good vs. evil with tons of computer effects to go with it. At first, computer generated effects where cool but as the movie progressed, it sort of got to a tiring level. I also waited for a slamming confrontation scene between The Rock and Fraser but what I got was a crude computer generated replica of him with scorpion hands. Thousands of inhuman villains with sizes and appearances of all sorts also bored me to my seat. And the premise that a hundred good warriors could beat , thousands of ass-kicking Anubis warriors prevailed. I began to think that Mel Gibson could have been awesome in this movie (he...he...).

I recommend that this movie be viewed with your nephews and nieces.
